Hi. My name is Trevor Gerhardt. I am a partner and full stack software developer at Conveyal. I help build and run our transit accessibility analysis web application. I mainly spend my time designing and building our web app's user interface.

Like The Boss forty years before me, I was born in the swamps of New Jersey, U.S.A. My family moved around a bit there, spent two years in Hawaii, then I spent my formative years growing up in Poughkeepsie, New York. After high school, I studied Computer Science at Grove City College. Then I worked for a defense contractor 😱 for three years in Norfolk, Virginia before moving to Washington, D.C. and focusing on web application development.

While living in Norfolk, I lost my car in a flood. The following months I spent attempting to get to work by public transit and became interested in how such a well populated area could have such poor transit options. This lead me to reading blogs, joining online communities, and eventually going to TransportationCamp in DC. This blooming passion was helpful when I met one of the founding partners of Conveyal and found out they were in need of a web developer.

That was 10 years ago now, and while Conveyal has changed quite a bit we are still chugging along.

I have a few ideas that I am collecting that I would like to post here. I keep recommending things to friends and family that I would like to synthesize and simplify into something more digestible. Topics are mostly related to health, how to live a good life, and what I would recommend to my younger self.

You can find me around the internet @trevorgerhardt. On twitter, github, LinkedIn, or email.

Enjoy the earth! I hope you have a wonderful day.
